MAYOR'S MEETINGS
Mayor Bishop met last week with representatives of the Ocean Grove Home Owners Association, and of other Neptune Township homeowners' associations, to answer questions and to address matters of concern to Neptune homeowners. At the January membership meeting of the OGHOA, a member asked whether it was possible to adjust the schedule for recycling pickups in weeks that include a holiday that falls on a Friday or a Monday, so that residents do not have to wait two weeks for a recycling pickup. The Mayor promised that he would look into the matter, and, at the meeing with homeowners' associations, confirmed that adjusting the schedule is not an option because it would entail overtime payments to sanitation personnel. The Mayor also reminded attendees that additional recycling barrels are available from the Township.
With resepct to the Neptune Township School Board, the Mayor advised that the Township was studying the possibility of moving the school board election to November, in an effort to increase voter turnout. Mayor Bishop also noted that Neptune residents may register their landline and cell phone numbers for reverse 911 notifications through the Township's website.
Mayor Bishop intends to schedule periodic meetings with Township homeowners' associations to provide information on Township initiatives, and to address matters of concern to homeowners.

MASTER PLAN UPDATE (1.28.2012)
The Neptune Township Comprehensive Master Plan was adopted by the Neptune Township Planning Board on January 25, 2012. Several changes to the draft plan that were proposed by the OGHOA Master Plan Committee, including deletion of a provision for a Land Use Advisory Committee, were accepted by the Master Plan Subcommittee. With the adoption of the Master Plan, the Township will begin to review its zoning ordinances, with a view to amending or adding ordinances in order to effectuate the provisions of the new Master Plan. OGHOA members are encouraged to monitor the Township's calendar for proposed changes to the zoning code, and to attend meetings of the Township Committee when proposed changes will be considered and voted on.
